Before resorting to laxatives or fecal emollients, make sure you’ve tried all the tips mentioned above. If these aren’t enough, speak to your doctor, who will know how to advise you.
Note: certain medications can cause constipation. If you think your medication is causing you to experience constipation, speak to your pharmacist; he will be able to help you find a solution.
If you suffer from chronic constipation or diarrhea, I strongly advise you to consult a doctor. As well as helping you have healthy bowel movements, he/she will carry out the necessary tests to ensure these digestive issues are not the consequence of more serious problems.
